My Journey Begins
I'm from Northern Sweden, where I grew up surrounded by mountains and endless trails. At 17, I started working at Kebnekaise Mountain Station and stayed for 12 seasons, learning every ridge and valley of Sweden's highest peak. Those years shaped who I am—patient, resilient, and deeply connected to the mountains.
Adventures Across the World
My adventures have taken me across the globe. In 2018, I hiked the Gröna Bandet over 2 months—a challenging traverse through Swedish Lapland. I've summited Island Peak in Nepal, trekked through New Zealand, Iceland, Norway, Italy, Spain, and Svalbard. Each journey taught me something new about myself and the world.
At 20 years old, I undertook a solo 4-week expedition that changed everything. Being alone in nature for that long forces you to confront who you really are—and I came out transformed.
The Headwind: Living With Chronic Pain
Since 2015, I've lived with chronic pain in my feet. When I chose the name "Headwind Hiker," it was because I know what it means to push against the wind—both literally and figuratively. Any pressure on my feet is incredibly painful, and I've had to adapt my life around it.
But in 2018, something incredible happened. After completing a pain rehab program, I realized something: the pain wouldn't get worse, only more intense in moments. So I decided to reclaim my life. I set out on a 1,350km hike with my pain meds and special insoles. The first 6 weeks were brutal—my achilles and knees were strained from years of being unable to train. But after those first 6 weeks, the pain started to fade. I gradually reduced my medication, and eventually stopped altogether. I never went back.
That's the power of the mountains. They don't care about your pain. They just ask: will you keep going?
A Partnership With the Mountains
Now I share this passion with my partner from North India, who's discovering the mountains for the first time. Together, we completed five days on the Kungsleden last year, and this year we're hiking a 2-week route from Vakkotavare to Abisko through Tarfala and Vistasdalen. Watching someone experience the mountains for the first time is magical.
Why This Website?
This website serves three purposes: to stay connected with our families—mine in Scandinavia, his in North India. To create memories we can look back on together. And to inspire others—to show that hiking is for everyone, whether you're a complete beginner or an experienced mountaineer. Whether you have chronic pain or perfect health. The mountains don't discriminate. They accept everyone willing to show up.
Vegan & Self-Sufficient
I'm vegan, and I dry all my own meals. I cook on campfires, gas stoves, and cold soak in the backcountry. I believe in leaving no trace, respecting nature, and living lightly on the land. This website will share recipes, food preservation techniques, and all the practical knowledge I've gathered from years of hiking.
The Philosophy
Hiking is where I feel joy and calmness. The stress of today runs off my shoulders, and I find my place in the universe. The mountains are my sanctuary, my classroom, and my home.
I climbed my first mountain at 9 years old—the highest peak in Västerbotten. Since then, hiking has been my life and passion. And now, I want to share that passion with you.
Get out in nature. Connect with yourself. Find your headwind, and embrace it.
